About the demo: Through facilitated activities, participants will explore tools to increase awareness of the body's messages about power, place, belonging, culture, lineage, and identity. Considering sensation, thought, and emotion, participants may expand their understanding of how they may develop more choicefulness in responding to experiences and interactions in various cultural contexts. 

About the presenter: Dr Carla is a justice consultant, group facilitator, educator, speaker, author, and vocational clergy candidate. As a consultant and scholar, she teaches, studies, and explores with others the salience of body, mind and emotional awareness in transforming inequitable social power, and in co-creating and sustaining vibrant, socially just groups, communities and institutions.

Title: Intro to Qigong

About the demo: Join Marie for a reflective movement practice for any ability and body. Qigong practices will engage breath, posture, movement, relaxation, and visualization.

About the presenter: Marie is the co-founder of True Nature Integrative Health and is a Certified Asian Bodywork Therapist of Zen Shitsu and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Master with extensive training in Qigong. She has a passion for the interconnectivity of life and the potential for transformative healing.

Title: The Power of Storytelling for Healing, Growth, and Connection

Our three presenters collectively believe in the power of hearing someone else's story, as well as the power of being able to tell their own stories. They work with people to design and deliver their stories in several different settings, including freelance work, work at Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Plan, consulting, and more!

About the demo: Graham, Chris, and Julie will collaborate to help you understand the power of story, and bring your own story to life. Come learn the essential elements to a story, hear an example of a story, and have the opportunity to map out a story of your own!

Presenters: Dr. Laura Anderson and Jake Anderson

Title: The connection between body, mind, and emotions: A horse’s perspective

About the demo: Dr. Laura will discuss how energy can affect horses' bodies, including how stuck energy can impact movement, state of mind, and overall ability to make other connections in their lives. She will highlight how chiropractic, acupuncture and other appropriate veterinary care can be helpful in supporting horse well-being. With this information in mind, Jake will demonstrate how effective communication, choices, and boundaries with horses can open a space for a deeper connection with them. Participants will be able to make connections to themselves and to the world around us.

About the presenters: Laura is an equine veterinarian and owner at Country View Equine, who specializes in chiropractic, acupuncture, and laser therapy for horses. Jake is a farrier and horse trainer. Together they have two kids, a farm, and the joy of living with animals.

Title: Introduction to Equine Therapy 

About the demo: Jenn and Jess will explore some of the differences between approaches to horses and equine therapies, including ethical and safety considerations. They will each demonstrate a few ways of being with horses that can offer support, insight, healing, and growth to participants.

About the presenters: Jenn is an equine therapist at True Nature Integrative Wellness in Illinois. Jess is an equine therapist at Natural Wisdom Counseling in Mount Horeb. They both are yoga teachers, nature-lovers, and believers in healing work that incorporates body, mind, and soul.
